4th July 2017

I had the responsibility of leading two funerals yesterday, one for a family to which I have served before, and the second for a gentleman from our Church.
I was struck as the day went by just how different human beings are, how diverse are their families, in yesterday's case, families from all over Europe,
and yet even in two very different services, how our common thread became instantly familiar in both cases.
A knowledge of being loved, being held, being cherished
partly these qualities bound our two peoples together in thier great differences.
But it was only I that could notice this, as I was the only person in common to both celebrations of life.
Being a PArish Priest is to enjoy walking with people, learning from them
and at journeys end, providing a tribute, a celebration, and an intimate opportunity to reflect on love
and then say goodbye
